SiOO:X featured in Art

SiOO:X is increasingly used on interesting objects and building structures in cities, townscapes, sea and rural lanscapes in locations around the world. As such they can be depicted in paintings, photographs or be the very sculptural art form. Here are some examples:

Auckland Tower

Set in the heart of the ancient market place of Bishop Auckland, the Auckland Tower, modelled on the castle seige towers used  to invade the ramparts of castle defences, has added an iconic feature to the townscape.

Here local artist Eric Thompson has depicted the Tower in a winter Christmas scene reproduced here courtesy of the artist and the gallery uk water colours.

The Mother and Child statue in Kirkcudbright

The selection of appropriate treatment to protect artwork and furniture from the elements is an important decision. Much loved and important artefacts, particularly timber artwork, need to be preserved in the settings they were designed and chosen for. These items are  touched by people and the treatment should be one which is entirely safe and which results in an appearance which respects and sustains the object in the landscape setting. SiOO:X has the attributes to achieve this and has a record of protecting new timber items and of regenerating old and neglected pieces. The Mother and Child statue in Kirkcudbright, carved in green oak in 1994, was given new life with SiOO:X in 2013.
