The Cardrona Cabin
If you are traveling to New Zealand, be sure to put Wanaka on your must visit list. Wanaka is a resort town set on the southern end of its eponymous lake on New Zealand’s South Island. It boasts gorgeous views of snowcapped mountains and is the gateway to the Southern Alps’ Mount Aspiring National Park — a truly inspiring wilderness of glaciers, beech forests and alpine lakes. Abodo chose to build a showcase cabin in this harsh alpine environment to demonstrate the durability and weatherability of their Vulcan Screening finished with SiOO:X on the facade and roof.
The structure is built with Abodo Vulcan timber in the raw in exposed studs and rafters combined with exposed steel portals. The raw wood on the interior brings warmth & texture to the space and harkens back to early period cottages in the area.
